The industry's most prestigious nail artistry awards return to Melbourne

The Melbourne International Beauty Expo is excited to announce the prestigious Nail Awards will be held at the 2009 Expo in April.

Each year leading nail artists from across the country travel to compete in The Nail Awards held once a year at the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo. The popularity and success of the competition have now paved the way for a similar showcase of talent at the upcoming Melbourne International Beauty Expo, 4th and 5th of April 2009.Industry Icon and 5 times Overall Champion, Viv Simmonds will be coordinating the 2009 awards alongside the expo team. VEGAS - IBS June 2009

WOW!!! I have recently returned from an amazing time in Vegas!

I stayed at the MGM Signature Suites with Catherine Wong, Serene and Julie. It was breathtaking! especially the view!!!

I then attended the Nailpro IBS Expo for the 3 days. It was awesome!!! I had the opportunity to meet Trang Nguyen and had the benefit of learning some new tips and advise for Nail Competitions! I caught up with my dear friends Cindy Davis (IMN) and the incredibly talented Lorena Marquez (Entity), the wonderful Stephanie Yaggy (Nailpro Magazine Editor), Carla Collier (Nailpro Competition Head Judge) and the rest of the Competition Team; Anita-Lime Sims, April Menedez, Jewell Cunningham and I also had the pleasure of meeting Rachael Morritsen (IMN and Nailpro Cup Champion). And that is just to mention a few!!! The people that I met were incredible!!!

I also got to catch up with my beautiful, incredible friends...Tammy Warner (HRTE) and Gina Silvestro (Akzentz). These two decided to take me on a scenic tour of the Vegas strip (old and new) in a topless jeep! that was certainly an experience! good fun with the exception of Gina not noticing the speed humps - that I clearly pointed out to her - and the whiplash as a result!!!

Catherine and I then conducted a class - VivCat Design 'Extravaganza' with approximately 38 attendees.
WOW!!! We could not have asked for more!!! It is such a pleasure and soooo rewarding when you take a class FULL of such talented & passionate nail artists! We had an amazing day! Catherine and I performed 3 designer nails demonstrations each on the first 6 attendees to enrol. Our designs covered Gel etching, Gel design, Acrylic Engraving, Acrylic Imbedded and Acrylic 3d.

With the exception of a technical glitch in the morning with the monitor not co-operating with the video, we were up and running by lunch with a display screen for viewing our demo’s as well as those wishing to stand around to watch. We had networking going on and other artists bringing their own unique skills and talents to the table. We swapped advise, techniques and shared many a good laugh!!!

In the afternoon, the attendees were able to sit and practice some of the techniques shown while Catherine and I walked around assisting individuals. We gave out posters and signed them, we took photo’s upon photo’s and we shared heaps of hugs! It was sad to see the day come to an end, as it passed so fast!

The trip ended with a shopping spree to the outlets where Catherine, Serene and I split within minutes of arriving and met up hours later, exhausted and drained! however, we pulled ourselves together and soldiered on for another few hours at the other outlets across town until we collapsed at dinner with our good friends Loni and her family.

It was then back to the hotel to co-ordinate the packing of all the shopping in order to avoid excess luggage fees!!!!

A great trip, with great friends!!! Looking forward to next year!!!
